OUR ADE PRE-PARTY PLAYLIST

13 October 2014
Myriah Turner

Want to get to know us better? The best way is to take a peek at our playlists. We thought sharing our loves of recent releases from deep, tech and techno would provide a better perspective of our personality as a creative collective. Music reviews aren’t really our style, the wonderful InterWeb is filled with a lot of talented people doing it. But we like to get in touch with the grit of the music and deliver it to you in an uncomplicated poetic manner.

CARIBOU / OUR LOVE / CITY SLANG

It was the time of longer days and colder beverages when we fell into desire for Caribou. We were encouraged to sway along at festivals, Pitch and Lowlands. Our faces opened to the music and hands in the air shout-singing “Can’t Do Without You!”. Lastly, the album, Our Love, has arrived. Oh Canada, it brings me immense pleasure that Caribou’s creations are coming out of my side of the world. The album is a feel good shock to your being that is clinging to those summer months. But have no fear for you can take Caribou with you right into the fall.

GUI BORATTO / ABAPORU / KOMPAKT

Once we embraced Joker and Take Control, Gui Boratto’s summer teasers, we were already in way over our heads. We scoured festivals DGTL and VOLLT and parties alike for a hint of the musical projections his sound was emitting. His fourth album Abaporu dropped and we are awestruck by the fluidity of his masterpiece. We let Gui Boratto educate you himself with a track-by-track breakdown of the album to better connect with his beauty and structure.

LIGHT YEAR / NEVER KNOW / EXPLOITED RECORDS

http://www.beatport.com/release/never-know/1376916

Exploited Records is like a best friend with all the gnarly tracks that are not quite being heard yet. They share them and get just as excited with you, they are just as bewildered at how not everyone is dancing to these tunes. We had a similar experience when we heard Light Year. There is a calm, cool and collective vibe that oozes out of each track on this EP; the arrangements are extricated with deep house rhythms. As much as JXP allows us to experience a sliver of the past, Never Know, is catapulting us into the depths of the future.

SHALL OCIN / ATLAS EP / ELLUM

http://www.beatport.com/release/atlas-ep/1376997

Ellum is always giving us something to celebrate! Amazing parties this summer - Loveland, Strafwerk and Awakenings - with Maceo Plex and artists from his label. It was no surprise when we reached for the bubbly to celebrate Shall Ocin’s Atlas EP. The track Orbis is an array of laser beams and pressure that causes a whirlwind of tempo inside of you. It’s got a tough and tender attitude that is refreshed with quips of electro-disco and revived with edgy tech flirtations. Shall Ocin’s bite comes out and you get addicted to the attitude expressed in Atlas.

PACO OSUNA / LONG PLAY / MINUS

http://www.beatport.com/release/long-play/1379751

Paco Osuna’s Long Play dropped on Minus and we’ve had Let’s Dream on repeat. Dressed to the teeth in our moody attire we dance aimlessly, raising our carefree attitudes and toasting our fellow party animals who are getting in touch with the deep tech vibe Paco Osuna is not being shy with. The bass goes deep and penetrates your being with a smoldering cache of beats that captivate and hypnotize you.

MATIAS AGUAYO / LEGENDE / KOMPAKT

http://www.beatport.com/release/legende/1384299

Matias Aguayo popped up on our radar with his recent release Legende on Kompakt. It is a five track EP with dark and mysterious names. Matias gives you a wicked blend of stark indie tremors, piercing techno with kisses of futuristic proportions. The mixes transport you to a galaxy Matias Aguayo has created, which feels entirely personalized to your dancing shoes.

ADRIATIQUE / ROLLOX EP / DIYNAMIC

http://www.beatport.com/release/rollox-ep/1380750

Adriatique and Diynamic both gave us a shifty dose of dark and elusive music this summer. The pulses of Rollox create a whirlwind of tiny planets colliding into one another and creating the venue for your heart to surrender to an out-of-this-world experience. The duo has managed to give life to a highly energetic climax with deep intergalactic and eerie drums. The tracks displace you and when you notice, you’ll want more - like we do.

Feel like you know us a little better? We hope so. The best way for you to really understand us is to listen to some of the music and artists we’re so obsessed with and literally feel us out. Try on these favourites for size and allow your person to absorb some of the love we have placed into each pick. You feel that vibe? Who’s your favourite from our list? Don’t be shy, because we won’t be.
